Write a blog post about how computation applies to your interests, due 24 hours before the next class. This could be a subject you've studied, a job you've worked, a personal hobby, or a cause you care about. What projects do you imagine making this term? What projects do you love? (You can review and contribute to the ICM Inspiration Wiki page). In the same post (or a new one), document the process of creating your sketch. What pitfalls did you run into? What could you not figure out how to do? How was the experience of using the web editor? Did you post any issues to github?
I have been constantly looking at some form of computer code for the last five years, but before those years, I was always surrounded by art supplies. So, by using p5.js I combined both my interests and created art using code. Now that I’m a little familiar with this library, I have many animation ideas in mind. I like that the animation can not only run by my own written code but can also be somewhat manipulated by the user(using mouse and clicks), thus creating an interactive experience. Also I’d like to try to write code for some kind of optical illusion. For example, the Lilac Chaser Optical Illusion. While drawing my self-portrait, I found it difficult to understand how the function curve() works. I feel like it’s not a very intuitively understandable function (unlike the others). I experimented with it for 30 minutes and managed to create an interesting nose shape for my self-portrait, but I still don’t fully understand how it works. The editor is easy to use, and references use easy vocabulary.
